  • 2021 Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll High Honors Recipient
  • WBK Pro Bono Project | Maryland Parole Partnership
  • Co-chair, FCBA Ad Hoc Committee on Emerging Issues in Tech
  • Organized and hosted multi-session FCBA program in summer 2021 on the regulation of online platforms.
  • Spent six years serving on the board of directors of Kol Shalom synagogue in Rockville, MD

 


  • Will’s pro bono work has focused on public education and illegal police seizure issues. Will has represented school organizations in successful appellate litigation, including in Frederick Classical Charter Sch., Inc. v. Frederick County Bd. of Educ., 454 Md. 330 (2017); and Balt. City Bd. of Sch. Comm’rs v. City Neighbors Charter Sch., 400 Md. 324 (2007). Will has also worked with a state public defender’s office to obtain an agreement ending illegal seizure and civil penalty practices by a police department and prosecutor’s office. For his pro bono work, Will has received several awards, including the Maryland Pro Bono Service Award from the Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland.

  • Member, Board of Trustees of the FCBA Foundation

  • Chuck has taken five pro bono referrals from D.C.’s Whitman-Walker Legal Clinic, all LGBT asylum applicants fleeing persecution in Cameroon.  He successfully obtained asylum for two of them; the other three cases are pending.

  • Alternate member, Fairfax County Athletic Council
  • Former Vice President, South County Little League
  • Worked with Fairfax County to form a public-private partnership to revitalize baseball fields in Lorton, Virginia.

  • Co-founder and Director of Off the Page, an arts in education non-profit organization

  • Board of Directors, Miriam’s Kitchen (a non-profit dedicated to helping end chronic homelessness in Washington, DC)

  • Board of Trustees, Adams State University (an established, respected Hispanic Serving Institution since 1998 — the first HSI in Colorado).
  • Taskforce Member, Colorado Environmental Justice Action Task Force (EJATF)

  • Association of Minority Zoo & Aquarium Professionals – working with non-profit, whose goal is to increase minority representation throughout the zoo industry, to protect their branding.
  • National Fair Housing Alliance – assisting with protecting and policing its trademarks for national organization dedicated solely to ending discrimination in housing.
  • Great Careers Group – assisting with rebranding efforts for organization that serves individuals in career transition with a focus on the underrepresented, those unique in entering the civilian workforce, and the disadvantaged, including minorities, gender identity populations, veterans and those impacted by ageism.

  • WBK Pro Bono Project | Maryland Parole Partnership
    • Working to assist our client, a person serving a life sentence at the Roxbury Correctional Institution in Hagerstown, Maryland, to prepare his written case to the Maryland Parole Commission. He has been in prison since 1975 (when he was 19).
