Transportation and Emerging Technologies

Innovation moves quickly and often does not fit neatly within a regulatory or legal framework.

WBK counsels a diverse group of clients as they develop cutting edge technologies, such as drones, “flying taxis,” smart city applications, and connected and automated vehicles.  Our interdisciplinary team includes professionals who have advocated before the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Commerce Department’s National Telecommunications and Information Administration, and other federal agencies on issues that impact emerging technologies, including spectrum availability, interoperability, privacy, cybersecurity, and cross-border data flows.  Our team also has advocated at the state and local levels on these issues as well as preemption.  We seek not only to help companies operate within applicable regulatory frameworks but also to help them shape those frameworks as they are developed.
