Connected and Automated Vehicles

The automotive industry is on the cusp of an incredible period of innovation and disruption, as vehicles become capable of seamlessly communicating with other vehicles, infrastructure, pedestrians, and cyclists. 

These new technologies hold tremendous potential to save lives, reduce pollution, and deliver a myriad of societal benefits.  At the same time, they also introduce a host of legal and policy issues at the intersection of communications and transportation, involving multiple federal and state agencies.  Our cross-disciplinary team works closely with companies from the automotive, technology, and telecommunications industries, including automotive manufacturers, tier-1 suppliers, chipset/communication system providers, mobile operators, and infrastructure vendors, to tackle a broad range of issues relating to spectrum policy, data privacy and ownership, cybersecurity, and the testing, licensing, and deployment of new equipment.
