On December 14th, Natalie Roisman co-moderated a Privacy Panel: The Year in Data Privacy and Security at PLI’s 30th Annual Institute on Telecommunications Policy & Regulation – December 13-14, 2012, Washington, DC. The panel addressed the following topics:

• The roles played by the FCC, FTC, and EU in regulating how personal data may be handled
• Recent regulatory efforts to promote information security and guard against data breaches
• The interplay of privacy regulation and consumer use of location-based mobile applications
• Recent rulemakings and enforcement actions under the Child Online Privacy Protection Act
