Seth Nelson is a regulatory economist with experience across the electric utility industry.   He started his career in public power, then went on to stints with an investor-owned utility and then an independent transmission developer.  He is a student of energy policy, especially on issues related to electric grid infrastructure and market design.  Seth also brings a deep background in the fundamentals of public utility regulation, including rates and integrated resource planning at both the state and federal levels.

Seth most recently worked at GridLiance, a NextEra Energy Transmission company, where he led the development of electric transmission projects and transmission M&A opportunities with a focus on partnerships with public and cooperative power entities in the Western Interconnection.

Before joining GridLiance, Seth held multiple positions with Black Hills Energy in Rapid City, South Dakota focused on electric transmission and organized wholesale market policy, planning, and strategy.  During his tenure at Black Hills Energy, Seth managed state and federal policy efforts relating to wholesale transmission regulation and wholesale market development in the Western Interconnection.  Seth also led the origination and planning of a large transmission expansion project in Cheyenne, Wyoming to facilitate the growth of a large data center customer.
