Richard (they/them/their) brings a regulatory foundation to their developing energy transactions practice. With a deep interest in how infrastructure gets built and how regulatory frameworks shape that process, they aim to help clients translate complex utility rules and incentives into practical business strategy. They approach transactional work with deep curiosity and a desire to bridge the gap between technical regulation and commercial decision-making.

Before joining WBK, Richard served at the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, where they litigated proceedings involving distribution system planning, certificates of public convenience and necessity for renewable installations, and depreciation rate recovery before the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. Their time at the AG’s Office sharpened their ability to engage with highly technical regulatory materials and anticipate how those rules impact energy transactions on the ground.

Richard earned their J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where they focused on energy law and earned a business law certificate. During law school, Richard worked in a national law firm’s corporate practice and in-house at Red Bull North America, where they began building the foundational corporate skills on which they hope to draw throughout their transactional practice. Originally from St. Louis, MO, Richard now lives in Denver with their fiancée, Julia, and Australian Shepherd, Ajla. In their free time, Richard enjoys exploring Colorado’s backcountry, dialing in their backyard smoker, and watching Survivor.
