Wilkinson Barker Knauer Partner KC Becker Appointed Regional Administrator EPA Region 8

DENVER — Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP (WBK) congratulates its Partner KC Becker on being named Regional Administrator EPA Region 8, covering Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, Wyoming, and 28 Tribal Nations.

KC joined WBK from the Colorado State Legislature, where she served as a State Representative for over seven years — rising to House Majority Leader and then Speaker of the House

During her time in the Colorado State Legislature, KC led landmark legislation to reform Colorado’s oil and gas sector, modernized the state broadband office and funding streams, and worked on the first-of-its-kind legislation regarding Uber’s ability to operate in the state. KC also led a groundbreaking plan to meet carbon reduction goals and created the country’s first Office of Just Transition to support communities as they plan future closings of coal plants upon which their communities depend.

“WBK congratulates KC on her appointment — the communities of Region 8 will greatly benefit from her thoughtful leadership in government,” said WBK Managing Partner Bryan Tramont. “We wish her all the best.”

WBK Partner Greg Sopkin, who held the Region 8 Administrator seat prior to KC, shared,

“I am delighted that KC Becker has been appointed to lead EPA Region 8.  KC’s legal acumen and leadership experience will be invaluable to the top-notch Region 8 professional staff.  EPA Region 8 can claim having the most beautiful lands and rich natural resources, so it is heartening to see KC taking the helm to protect human health and the environment.”
