Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP is proud to announce the appointment of partner Arthur Ortegon to the newly formed Colorado Environmental Justice Action Task Force.

The 27-member Task Force was created by the Colorado legislature to develop recommendations to the General Assembly on how to address the effects of environmental injustice, particularly on disproportionately impacted communities. Arthur will hold one of the Task Force seats reserved for people of color.

In addition to his expertise in municipal, state, and federal policy and regulatory issues in a variety of industry sectors, Arthur has a decade of public sector experience and has received professional political appointments in Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock’s Office, the Colorado General Assembly under State Representative Cheri Gerou, Colorado Governor Jared Polis’ Office, and the George W. Bush White House. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Adams State University, an established Hispanic Serving Institution since 1998 and the first HSI in Colorado.

WBK Director of Social Responsibility Natalie Roisman said, “WBK is focused on creating more diversity and equity pipelines for the legal profession and enhanced opportunities at all levels in law and policy for lawyers from diverse backgrounds. Arthur’s appointment to this important state task force exemplifies the critical need to involve and amplify more minority voices in policy discussions. As the son of two immigrants who became a partner of a national law firm, we know Arthur will bring a valuable perspective to this task force, and the firm looks forward to supporting his work.”

Congratulations, Arthur!
