Former FERC Advisor Robin Lunt Joins Wilkinson Barker Knauer As Of Counsel

Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP is pleased to announce that Robin Lunt is joining the Firm as Of Counsel. Robin brings extensive policy and regulatory experience, having served in roles for both the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Ms. Lunt will focus primarily on advising clients in the Firm’s energy practice.

Before her most recent position as General Counsel at energy technology company Innovari, Inc., Ms. Lunt served as the Legal and Policy Advisor to WBK’s own Tony Clark during his time as a Commissioner at FERC. In this capacity, Robin advised Commissioner Clark on legal and policy implications for all electricity matters in the western interconnection, gas and oil orders and major market changes. Prior to her time at FERC, Ms. Lunt was Assistant General Counsel at NARUC, where she worked on electricity and national gas issues at the intersection of federal and state regulatory law and policy. She focused primarily on smart grid development and new utility sector Environmental Protection Agency regulations. Before that, Ms. Lunt was an associate at the Washington, D.C. firm Hill & Kehne LLC, where she worked on energy and environmental solutions, as well as contract negotiations.

Ms. Lunt is a graduate of the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where she was Senior Editor on the Law Review, and earned her bachelor degree from Pomona College. She has served in leadership roles for the Energy Bar Association and the North American Energy Standards Board, is a frequent speaker and panelist on energy-related regulatory topics, and hosts the Spirit in the Law Podcast.

Ray Gifford, head of WBK’s Energy Practice, remarked that “We are extremely excited about adding to our Energy Practice Robin’s experience in and out of government and as the General Counsel of a startup – you might even say we’re electrified by the prospect!” Added Tony Clark, “Ray’s bad puns aside, I cannot wait to work with Robin again. She is an expert in her field, a strategic problem solver, and an excellent communicator. We made a great team during our FERC days, and look forward to working with her again in this capacity.” Added Ms. Lunt, “Wilkinson Barker Knauer has an unparalleled depth of understanding and experience in energy regulation that, when combined with their telecommunications practice, gives them a deep expertise in grid modernization. I am also impressed that WBK consistently delivers sophisticated legal advice with a personal, client-centered approach. I am happy to be joining the team!”
