Natalie G. Roisman, Partner

Natalie G. Roisman has been a partner with the firm since 2008 and advises clients on a wide variety of policy and regulatory issues related to the media and telecommunications fields.  She works with broadcast, cable, satellite, motion picture studio, telecommunications, wireless carrier, and equipment manufacturer clients to develop and execute advocacy strategies at the FCC, FTC and NTIA for industry-wide rulemakings, adjudicatory proceedings, regulatory compliance, transactions, and enforcement actions.  In addition, Ms. Roisman advises investors and the financial community regarding media and telecommunications acquisitions and the impact of Congressional and federal agency policy actions on relevant industries.  She also counsels clients on evolving federal law, policies, and self-regulatory regimes relating to consumer privacy and data protection.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Roisman worked in private practice and served as an attorney-advisor in the policy division of the FCC’s Media Bureau.  At the FCC, her primary areas of responsibility included content protection and digital rights management, navigation devices and other consumer electronics equipment, the digital television transition, low-power FM radio, and program access and carriage.  In addition, she was responsible for issues relating to IP video and telecommunications companies’ entry into the programming distribution market, including video franchising and Section 621 of the Communications Act.

Ms. Roisman has particular expertise in regulatory issues relating to the distribution of content, with a focus on new developments in the video marketplace.  She also has substantial experience in privacy, disclosure, and advertising issues, including online behavioral advertising, before federal agencies.  She is a frequent speaker at industry events on topics such as the regulatory treatment of online video, evolving cloud-based and set-top box business models, and the FCC’s procedural requirements.
